Day 9: Heating Up

As the last days of school near, summer lets its presence be known by the increasing warmth of every new day. The sun filled clean blue air seems to wrap itself around me, trapping the heat around me. However, every subtle wisp of cool air blowing away a small part of the trapped heat, it gives a calming relief that soothes the body.

I have registered for orientation! Checked that off of the list, the long list of things I need to do.
Next, I must study and brush up on my past four years of math, for my two hour placement test (which, I am already dreading). Lengthy tests are not my forte - though I wish they were.

Day 7: Another Day Closer

I signed up for orientation today - I am now another small step closer to starting my college journey.

However, to be able to complete college one must first pay for college. Which, brings me back to my summer job at Eskimo Queen. My next scheduled time to work is tomorrow. I am really desiring a place where I can have a fixed schedule, instead of waiting to hear when I work next. Either way - I just need to be making money over the summer.

Now, for something to look forward too. On Saturday, me and my FIRST Robotics team, Digital Fusion, will be competing in the 2014 Ohio FIRST Championship. Due to a lengthy yet all together necessary paragraph, to be able to fully describe what an FRC (First Robotics Championship) is to those who don't already know. I encourage you to look it up on Wikipedia, and watch videos on YouTube. I will provide links and further information in a later post sometime this week, followed up by a post prior to the competition.

The FIRST program has lead me to my interest in engineering. Because of its major role in my life, I hope that it can possibly change someone else life as well. If you aren't at all interested in anything engineering related, I still do incourge you to look it up in your free time. Even if it doesn't prompt you to seek an interest in an engineering related field - it will at least blow your mind to see what a group of highschool students can accomplish, with just six weeks and only an idea.

Today marks my first week of blogging. I will admit that I do enjoy it, it gives me a different perspective on my day. Showing me a little more positive, and giving me more respect for each day.

Day 5: The Calm of Summer vs. Motivation

Today was a pleasent warm day.
It's days like these that make it hard to keep pushing on through a school day.

The Sun hurling its light upon the Earth. Never letting up, constantly fighting its way through the clouds. The same clouds which provide protection from the discomforts of the scorching heat. An eternal struggle of summer.
The sounds and smells of summer only make it more difficult to keep focused.

Despite the struggles of school while entering into the summer months. I continue waiting on my work schedule.

Day 3: 2014 First Day of Work (Officially)

As of today, I have had my first real day of work for the summer. It was, no doubt, a completely new experience and enviroment. Still trying to get used to everything.

I find out my work schedule tomorrow, so it has forced me to take things one step at a time.

The more I work, the more I realise why working at a fastfood restaurant can be difficult at times. No job is easy. So if you find one that is easy, it's probably not doing it correctly.

On another note - the more things started picking up, the more we seemed to work in unison (e.g. making food, serving, taking orders, cleaning). It was as if we just got up to speed and shifted our settings into cruise. It was a form of controlled chaos, in which we transitioned into without a known starting point. An odd concept to think about.

Going to start adding a 'Word(s) of the Day' in to each one of my daily posts.
